- For golfers, there is the 18-hole Venice Alberoni Golf Club –  a short boat ride from the Venice historical center, and as Luxury Travel Magazine described it:  ”….hidden between the ruins of a 17th century fortress, the Malamocco canal, and the Mediterranean woodland.”

- Other restaurant recommendations include:  Enoteca al Volto (one of Elton John’s favorites), Missoni, and,  Da Fiore.

One cent hotel rooms in Venice, Italy

venice_italyOne cent hotel rooms?  In Venice?  So, what’s the deal?  A joke, perhaps.  Or, maybe a marketing tactic to boost room sales in light of the global recession.  Actually, no, its none of these.  Turns out, it’s a mistake.

The Crowne Plaza Quarto D’Altino’s, outside of Venice, Italy, has sold about 1,400 rooms online for one cent per night by accident.  An accident that will cost the hotel approximately €90,000.

Unfortunately, the error has been corrected but the hotel plans to honor the mistake for the more than 200 people who booked closed to 1,400 rooms under the special .

For those of you who made good on the mistake, congratulations on your savings of approximately €149 per night.
